Country Market X-citing Projects- Who Wins? You Decide
As most of you will remember, Country Market launched their 2013 X-citing Projects campaign back in May. The campaign offers local charities, organisations and projects the chance of winning £1,000 to spend on anything they would like to help them to enhance their service.
After receiving multiple nominations for the October donation, three finalists have been selected and it is up to you, the readers, to decide who will receive this month’s £1,000 offering.
The nominees for the October X-citing projects are:
Pinehill Surgery Patient Group
Pinehill Surgery, based in Bordon, is desperately trying to raise £2000 to purchase a 24 hour blood pressure monitor which is not covered by the NHS. So far, they have managed to raise £800 and with the X-citing Projects fund it would bring them very close to the total amount needed to purchase this very important piece of machinery.
The machine will enable patients to have their blood pressure recorded at home over a 24hour period and is a more reliable method of diagnosing high blood pressure.
Farnham Local Food
Farnham Local Food is a not-for-profit community market garden with a main site at Runfold St George and another in Dippenhall. Customers pay an annual membership to the scheme and then sign up to purchase a year’s share of the harvest which is collected from the Runfold St George site on a Saturday afternoon.
They currently need more funds and volunteers to be able to keep going and integrate themselves as part of the local community. Starting with furthering their children's education programme, extending their out reach to special needs groups and training an apprentice.
If they won, Farnham Local Food would also use the £1,000 to help get its recently dug pond up and running including guttering along the polytunnels to filter rain water into the pond and to harvest rain water for their crops.
Dreams Come True
Dreams Come True is a children’s charity that fulfils dreams and provides a positive focus for serious and terminally ill children and their families at times of gruelling hospital treatment and sometimes very sad loss.
The charity is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and so far has managed to support over 5,000 children but they currently have 148 children on their waiting list.
By winning the £1,000 X-citing Project Fund, it would enable Dreams Come True to deliver the dreams to some of the children who don’t necessarily have the time to wait for their dreams to become a reality.
Voting is easy, simply email countrymarket@pmwcom.co.uk with the name of the project you want to win in the subject box or call Tilly Bull on 01403 783400. Voting will last from Thursday 10th October until Sunday 27th October. Votes received after the closing date will not be counted.
Country Market will be giving away £1,000 through the X-citing Projects every other month so it’s not too late to send a nomination. You can write to Country Market, c/o PMW Communications, Stane Court, Stane Street, Billingshurst, West Sussex, RH14 9HP or email tilly.bull@pmwcom.co.uk
