Potatoes.. our tasty tatters direct to you from our farm shop

At Country Market we select the best varieties of potatoes for growing on our family farm.  We grow, grade and pack our potatoes on the farm too for zero food miles.  All are available exclusively for our customers in our farm shop at Country Market and sold in handy size 12.5kg sacks.  Packing in paper sacks also benefits longer term storage.

Great Natural Food

Healthy & wholesome

The humble spud has many health benefits. For example, potatoes provide the body with an essential source of fuel and energy which you need even when dieting. This versatile and tasty vegetable is packed with vitamin B as well as potassium, magnesium and iron. It is said that this naturally tasty food also reduces blood pressure, helps protect against cardiovascular disease and with high levels of fibre is great for maintaining regular bowel movements.

Did you know? If you accidentally burn yourself gently press a piece of raw potato against the injury and it will take out the sting and help speed up the healing process.

A family favourite for tasty dishes

When the dark night's draw in many of us will be enjoying a traditional roast. In our farm shop we recommend Desiree and King Edwards varieties as the best potatoes to use for fluffy roasties - a staple for any table.

Enjoy a choice of the best varieties

Desiree - Red skin, yellow flesh potato. Good for Baking, Wedges, Jackets, Chips, Boiling, Mash & Roasting

King Edwards - Clean skin and light red blush potato. The king of tatters. Good for fluffy roasties, chips and dauphinoise.

Wilja - White skin & yellow flesh potato. Second early, grown as main crop. Good for all purposes including Chips, Mashing, Roasting & Boiling.

Tyson - New generation of white skin main crop potato that replaces the popular Marfona variety. Great table variety that excels at baking, boiling, mashing and roasting. Good resistance to breaking down when boiling.

Advice from our farm shop

We recommend storing potatoes in a cool dark place.  Potatoes should be dry before storing them and not stored in plastic bags.

If you would like more information or advice on how to grow, cook or store potatoes then feel free to pop in and visit us at our Country Market farm shop, Bordon.
