YOUNG COOKS IS BACK FOR SPRING 2016 AFTER A SUCCESSFUL COMPETITION EARLY THIS YEAR. WE HAD SOME WONDERFUL ENTRIES IN 2015.

We are all aware that healthy eating and nutrition is very important to the development and the wellbeing of our children. With this in mind Owton’s would like to invite the children from local schools to our latest annual cooking competition in association with Fullers Chefs Guild and Hampshire Fayre. Closing date for entries will be 5th September 2016 with the ‘cook off’ taking place at a later date. The final is to be held in the exclusive cookery school at Lainston House. Dates will be announced shortly.
THERE ARE TWO AGE GROUPS: 6 TO 11 AND 12 TO 16 YEARS.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
To enter the competition the children need to take photographs of the Preparation, Cooking and Plated Dish with a description of what they did including the ingredients. This is either entered by a postal entry or online.
FOR THE 6 TO 11 AGE GROUP SAUSAGES MUST BE THE MAIN INGREDIENT IN THIS DISH.
FOR THE 12 TO 16 AGE GROUP CHICKEN MUST BE THE MAIN INGREDIENT IN THIS DISH.

The competition is based on the children cooking their favourite dish with minimal help from their parents. Our panel of professional chefs and judges will review each entry and
ALL ENTRIES WILL RECEIVE A PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATE AND THE BEST CHILDREN’S RECIPES WILL BE PROMOTED ON THE YOUNG COOKS SECTION OF THE OWTON’S WEBSITE. YOUNG COOKS CHEF HATS AND APRONS WILL BE GIVEN TO CHILDREN WHO ARE CHOSEN TO COOK FOR THE JUDGES.
Entries will be reviewed by our panel of judges and will be chosen based on their recipe, preparation, cooking and presentation. These nominees will then be invited to the ‘cook off’ final to be held at the exclusive cookery school at Lainston House near Winchester .
At this event they will be required to cook their dish in front of the judges. The judges will talk to the children and ultimately taste each dish, where a winner will be decided for each age group.
